The Tea Fire

The view as we drove up to Bill's house was shocking.

I think this is where the Kihlstrom's house was, down among the trees, many of which are still standing.

The fire apparently swept down into Westmont from above and to the west.

You can see the Tea Gardens where the fire apparently started and was blown mostly west and south from there. I have still heard no word on its cause.

This is about as far east as the fire went. As you can see, Westmont almost made it.

The view to the west from Bill's house shows that was the direction the fire went and where most of the houses were lost, as it went all the way to Mission Canyon.

This is a little wider shot across the valley. It was a beautiful, warm today with hardly a breeze. It is hard to believe what was lost in just a few hours.

Quite a Wind Storm

The night of Kristi's grand finale of "The World Goes 'Round" it was only a little breezy when we left in separate cars with Dave and Judy for The Chase for dinner and then the Garvin Theater for the play. I didn't even think about taking precautions for a wind storm.

But the next morning, the chairs that had been around the table were blown all about the patio and some of the covers were blown off, although they all stayed in the yard, fortunatelyThe poor, old termite eaten and cat scratched picnic table that I never got around to restoring was, sadly, a victim of the wind. Nothing to do now but knock it down for scrap wood.

I couldn't believe the ash that fell into the swimming pool. You can see Kreepy brushing it away.
